Working with mark-making, colour, and image to give shape to feelings that are hard to name.
River & Roots Therapy
Compassionate dramatherapy and creative therapeutic support — a calm, safe space for children and adults to feel heard, held, and gently understood.

A welcome
River & Roots offers integrative, person-centred therapy for those navigating difficult feelings, change, or simply wanting to feel more at home in themselves. The work is bespoke, paced gently, and rooted in psychodynamic understanding.
You won't be asked to perform, push through, or be anything other than who you are today. Therapy here is collaborative, warm, and shaped around your own way of communicating — whether that's through words, image, story, movement, or quiet.
Meet Louise →How therapy can help
You are not broken. Therapy here is about understanding, exploration, and connection — making sense of your story so you can move through life with more ease, choice, and self-compassion.
Creative therapeutic approaches
Some feelings are too big, too tangled, or too quiet for words alone. Creative therapy offers other ways to be understood — without pressure, and always at your pace.
Working with mark-making, colour, and image to give shape to feelings that are hard to name.
Using metaphor and narrative to gently explore experience at a safe distance.
Embodied and playful ways of working that meet the nervous system, not just the mind.
Reflective conversation rooted in psychodynamic understanding and warmth.
Sessions meet your child where they are. Through play, story, art and movement, children find safe ways to express what's happening inside, supported by a calm and consistent therapeutic relationship.
Support for children →Whether you're navigating a difficult chapter, longstanding patterns, or simply a sense that something needs tending — adult sessions offer a reflective, unhurried space to explore, understand and grow.
Support for adults →Trauma & neurodivergent support
Sessions are trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming. The pace is yours. The communication style is yours. There's no expectation to mask, perform, or tolerate overwhelm. You can speak, draw, move, or stay quiet — whatever helps you feel safe enough to be present.
The aim is never to push past what feels manageable, but to gently widen the space where you can be with yourself.

In their words
